Corbett's dramatic, vivid and atmospheric scenes are each composed using a combination of drawing, painting, collage and thick layers of glaze. Stark lighting exposes the underlying geometric structure of these worlds and a hidden abundance of intricate minutiae emerging from the shadows. As one is drawn toward these tiny details, the tone of each scene begins to shift from familiar to unnatural, and what once beckoned now repulses. The layering of these oppositional, contradicting and incoherent subjects examines how the systems of our world exist in multiple states simultaneously.
